What this assumes
All amounts are before tax. All pension payments begin when retirement starts. Your income goal and pension payments increase by the same yearly percentage. Enter your own benefit estimates; the calculator does not check eligibility.
Investment growth is added before each monthly withdrawal. Withdrawals increase once a year and cannot exceed your savings. This calculator excludes required retirement-account withdrawals, withdrawal limits, OAS repayments and changes after a spouse dies. Use Account Drawdown to include different account types, tax estimates and later pension start dates.
The calculator uses fixed yearly investment returns after fees. This is an example, not a forecast. Actual returns vary; losses, especially early in retirement, can greatly change the result. Amounts are in Canadian dollars and rounded for display.
